Adagio Series Architectural Exit Sign with Emergency Lighting
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The Adagio Series LED Exit Sign features a contemporary and compact housing design. The Exit stencil is articulated by a Long-Life LED light source that utilizes indirect refractive technology to provide evenly distributed illumination while assuring low maintenance costs and energy efficiency. The housing consists of durable injection molded thermoplastic with push-to-snap assembly, and comes optionally with a vandal resistant shield and tamper-proof screws. Available in single or double face configurations and ability to be wall(back), end(side), or ceiling(top) mounted. Easy to install canopy and field-selectable snap-in/out chevrons allow for quick and easy installation. The unit comes standard with a manual "Push to Test" button which can be optionally upgraded to include an onboard Self Testing and Diagnostic micro-controller to perform self-tests on a monthly basis while identifying as well displaying failures of the electrical components: battery, battery charger, or LEDs. The battery back up model comes with long life rechargeable NiCad. AC only versions are available in single or dual circuit (AC 120 or AC277)

SPECIFICATIONS OVERVIEW
The Adagio comes standard with a dual voltage input of 120/277VAC. The unit is suitable for wall back, wall side or ceiling top mount. The unit frame and face plates are made of injection-molded durable high-impact thermoplastic and come standard with snap in/out chevrons. No screws are necessary to hold the faceplate or back plate to the housing. The one piece thermoplastic frame is molded in white (optional black). The faceplates feature a uniformly illuminated legend. The exit sign light source is comprised of ALINGAP light emitting diodes (LED) that provide illumination in normal and emergency operation. An LED-sensitive diffuser is mounted behind the legend to provide the 6 high by 3/4 stroke letters with even illumination.
The unit is equipped with a test switch and a green pilot light, located on the face plate above the EXIT legend. The battery charger is driven by a micro-controller. All electronic circuitry (charger, LED driver, LEDs) are installed on a single printed circuit board PCB.
When equipped with Advanced diagnostics the circuit continuously monitors the performance of the battery, charger module and LED lamps. Upon failure detection the system displays the error on the AC pilot lamp, which will change color from green to red and will flash with a specific code. The pilot lamp will be steady-on red in case of Battery Disconnect; it flashes red with one blink for Battery failure, two blinks for Charger failure and four blinks for LED lamp failure. A label with the diagnostic legend is visible next to the pilot lamp.

MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Exit Illumination Source
High Efficiency, Long life ALINGAP LED technology using less than 3.5 watts.
AC Power Consumption
Energy efficient power consumption: less than 3.5 watts for self-powered version and less than 3 watts for AC only single or double face.
Battery Type
Standard: Maintenance Free Long Life NiCad.
Performance Testing
Self-Powered Models can be manually tested by pressing the test switch. Legend will flicker, but remain lit. On release, external green LED will illuminate, and automatic charger will restore battery to full charge.
Models equipped with optional Automatic testing and diagnostics include a microcontroller which self-tests the unit on a monthly basis and identifies as well displays failures of the electrical components: battery, battery charger, lamps, LEDs.
The self-test is performed every 30 days for 1 minute, every 6 months for 30 minutes, and annually for 90 minutes. The diagnostic function uses an external green LED indicator. Service is required if the green LED blinks indicating that an alarm condition is detected.
Maintenance
Long-Life ultra efficient LEDs ensure low maintenance and low electricity consumption.
INSTALLATION
Overview
Standard universal design features snap-fit single/double face option with chevron pop outs for easily configuring no-arrow, left arrow, right arrow, or both arrow set ups as well as 120v/277v dual voltage capability.
- Turn off AC power.
- Route AC unswitched circuit of rated voltage into electrical box and leave 6 of wire length.
- Remove the exit door using a coin or a screwdriver at the top or bottom of the door.
- Determine the mounting position (end, wall or ceiling). Note: canopy is required for end or ceiling mount.
- The Adagio circuit system can accept input voltages of 120 VAC or 277 VAC. Therefore, connect the black (120 VAC) or orange (277 VAC) and white (common) leads to the building utility. Connect the Green wire to the ground. Unused primary wire must be insulated to prevent shorting
Wall Mounting
No canopy required is for wall mounting.
- With the help of a flat head screwdriver, knock out the proper hole pattern in the back cover to mount to a standard junction box.
- Feed the AC supply leads out through the center hole and make the proper connections. Feed the excess wire into the junction box and secure the back cover to the junction box using the junction box screws.
- Remove appropriate hole plug. Feed AC supply leads through side or top opening and then through canopy. Snap canopy on top or side of frame. Screw canopy to frame. In the case where a canopy lock is supplied, you may refrain from screwing the canopy to the frame and simply snap the canopy lock to canopy. However, for applications having a greater risk of exposure to abnormal impacts, we suggest to always use the canopy housing screw. Make the proper wire connections. The Quick-install canopy is equipped with ribs allowing you to hang the unit on the spider plate to facilitate wiring.
- Feed the excess wire into the junction box. Unhook unit and slide ribs on canopy into designated notches on the spider plate. Secure the canopy to the junction box using the canopy screw(s) provided.
- Remove the appropriate chevron(s) on the exit door by holding sign with both hands. Push chevrons from the inside with thumb. You may need to unsnap the diffuser panel to do so.
- Connect the battery
- Reinstall exit door(s).
- Energize AC. Sign will illuminate.
End or ceiling mount
For end of ceiling mounting, the canopy is required.
- Simply attach the spider plate to electrical box with the junction box screws.

There is no maintenance required for the batteries of Self-Powered Models. If AC supply to the unit is to be disconnected for 2 months or more, the battery must be disconnected. Note NiCd (Nickel Cadmium) batteries are shipped discharged and may require 10 minutes of connection to AC supply before start-up test procedure, and 96 hours to reach full charge.
