    SPECIFICATIONS OVERVIEW

The Peregrine Series comes complete with a 3-year full warranty (excluding fuses and incandescent lamps). The units are made of durable cast aluminum housing, finished with textured polyester powder coat paint. Four colors are available: off white, black, platinum gray and dark bronze. The vacuum-plated die-cast reflector will last over time. The lens is made of an impact and UV resistant polycarbonate. The unit can be installed on various junction boxes with universal mounting pattern. It can also accept a surface mount cable, via the rigid conduit entry provision on the top of the unit.

Peregrine Series units are furnished with two high-output Xenon lamps for emergency lighting. These lamps, combined with a patent pending reflector, deliver an incredible center-to-center spacing. The reflector has been designed to provide an evenly distributed illumination pattern for corridors, up to 6' wide.

All self-powered units come with a dual-input 120/277Vac, 60Hz. Chargers also include low voltage disconnect to prevent deep discharge, battery lockout to prevent battery drain prior to energizing the utility power, brownout protection which will automatically switch unit into emergency mode if the utility power falls below 80% of nominal and battery reverse polarity protection. Lead-Calcium models are equipped with Pulse Charge circuitry that promotes long battery life and excellent performance. This current limiting charger will minimize energy consumption. Nickel Metal Hydride Models are equipped with the non-audible version of the Self Diagnostics system. This charger is a self-test and self-diagnostic charger. It will monitor and indicate any of the following failures: battery disconnect, battery, charger and lamp failures. The unit will perform a periodical self-test, of minimum 30 seconds every 30 days, 30 minutes every six months and 90 minutes annually. Discharge test can also be initiated manually.

The dual-mode illumination feature enables the Peregrine to provide lighting not only during power outages, but also in normal conditions. This is achieved with a secondary light source, a long-life, 5-watt power LED lamp dedicated to normal lighting. When equipped with this feature, the equipment includes two independent circuits, electrically isolated from each other: the standard input for emergency lighting and a secondary input for normal lighting. The secondary input can be connected to a regular AC line that may include an electric switch.

The Peregrine is available in several configurations:

    • Regular Interior package is a cost efficient solution equipped with Lead-Calcium battery.+20C to +30C (+68F to +86F)
    • Exterior package: designed for a wide range of temperature. UL listed for wet and cold location. Operating temperature: -20C to +40C (-4F to + 104F)
    • High output package: ideal for interior applications where the photometrical performance the 10W Xenon lamps is required. Equipped with NiMH battery, UL listed for operating temperature: +20C to +30C (+68F to +86F)

    INSTALLATION

Unit is designed to be back mounted to wall surface via 4 fasteners.

    Electrical Connections
    1. Turn off building electrical emergency circuit
    2. Remove the backplate by inserting a flat head screwdriver into the tab located on the top, and twisting.
    3. Locate the quick connect connector, on the housing and disconnect it and put aside.
    4. For standard junction box mounting, knock out the desired hole pattern in the backplate. Make the proper connections to unswitched building electrical emergency circuit. Route the quick connect through the large knockout and mount the backplate to the junction box.

For Conduit entry mounting: Remove plug on the back plate and knock out the desired hole pattern in the back plate to secure the unit on the wall if required. Install the conduit and supply wires. For wet location: install a liquid tight fitting with teflon tape. Take wire nuts provided with the units. Bigger wire nuts might interfere with internal components. Attach to the unswitched building electrical emergency circuit.

    5. Make the proper connections. 120 VAC - Connect the black (120 VAC), white (neutral) and ground(green) leads to the building utility. Insulate orange wire.

277 VAC - Connect the orange (277 VAC), white (neutral) and ground(green) leads to the building utility. Insulate black wire.

Remote - Connect the red (+) and the blue (-) leads to the DC input voltage of building utility. DC input voltage is indicated on the unit. It has to be compatible with the building electrical emergency circuit.

    6. Place the quick connect in the slot and lock in place with the latch
    7. AC must be off when mating quick connect. Mate the AC connector on the unit with the connector from the building AC service. Take the Housing and make sure the battery is connected to the board.
    8. Reinstall the housing on the back plate. The housing is aligned to the pack plate with the two guides pin. In order to ensure proper snaps, maintain the housing parallel to the wall. Press together until it snaps. If it doesn't snap properly, try again making sure you maintain housing parallel to the wall. For conduit entry mounting, make sure the wire nuts provided with the unit have been used. Bigger wire nuts might interfere with internal components.
    9. Energize AC. The AC pilot indicator, located under the cover, will illuminate.
    10. For Self Diagnostics and Remote Monitoring installation instructions, see product data install sheet.
