Series C5 City of Chicago Vandal Proof Steel

The C5 Series has been engineered for use in the most extreme environments. Ideal for areas of public access such as train platforms, outdoor parking structures, or anywhere durability and security is an issue.

CONSTRUCTION:
Housing, socket channel, and frame manufactured of 18 gauge type 304 die-formed stainless steel. Internally hinged frame opens for easy access to panel and socket channel,
and is secured to housing with stainless steel, spanner head tamper-proof screws.

GASKETING:
Silicone gasketing is applied to the housing and hinged frame to form a water tight seal.

MOUNTING:
Universal mounting – ceiling, end, wall, pendant, or back mount; canopy supplied.
Painted Pendant kit optional; stainless steel or aluminum available on special orders, please specify.

FINISH:
Natural satin brush finish standard; other finishes available at no additional charge.

PANEL:
Letters are 6” high with 3/4” stroke. Other color combinations available to meet local codes.
Glass panels (Chicago Code) have red letters on white background. A .125” clear polycarbonate shield is
optional.

ELECTRICAL:
Incandescent–furnished with two (2) 20T6.5 double contact bayonet base lamps.
Power consumption - 40 watts; average lamp life - 2,000 hours.
Fluorescent—Wired with 7/9 watt ballasts and furnished with two (2) compact fluorescent, 10,000 hour
lamps with built in starter. Power consumption - 21.6 watts; average lamp life - 10,000 hours.
Cold Cathode—Lamp provides long life and energy efficiency with excellent lumen output while
offering the same color quality as fluorescent.
Operating Wattage: 10 Watts total
Lamp Life: A minumum of 50,000 hours at full lumen output

EMERGENCY OPERATION:
Emergency system illuminates lamps when normal (AC) power fails. Flourescent and incandescent units come complete with 6V, maintenance free Lead Acid
battery for (2) hour operation. Cold cathode system utilizes nickel metal hydride battery, providing equal light output in both AC and DC modes. All units offer solid state charger, automatic brownout
protection and low voltage disconnect, which prevents over-discharge of battery. A momentary test switch and charge indicating light are standard.
Fluorescent signs are furnished with two 3.6 Watt, 6V DC wedge base lamps which illuminate when AC power fails.

LABELS:
U.L., E.T.L., or ENTELA Listed. CTA, CHA, Chicago Park District approved.
Wet Location Label Optional (add WL to catalog number).
